About EAL
A skilled workforce will be essential to the successful introduction of environmental technologies across the United Kingdom and beyond.  With support from Sector Skills Councils and the National Apprenticeship Service, leading employers and industry bodies are currently working to define the skills needed for the increased use of renewable energies.

EAL are committed to providing qualifications in environmental technologies that meet the needs of employers and learners involved in large industrial and commercial projects as well as small-scale domestic initiatives.  The government aims to generate 20 percent of the UK’s energy from renewable sources by 2020, and research by RenewableUK suggests the wind industry alone could employ 57,000 people by the end of the decade. Driving the growth of envionmental techology.

EAL have already launched a range of qualifications to give building services engineers the skills to install and maintain:

- small-scale solar photovoltaic systems
- heat pump systems
- solar thermal hot water systems
- water harvesting and reuse systems.

These qualifications focus on the skills needed to help meet carbon reduction targets by lowering domestic energy consumption and reducing harmful emissions.  Successful learners can use their qualification to gain recognition from the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
